Why Is Sacrifice Offered During Bakrid?

According to Islamic beliefs, the last Prophet, Hazrat Ibrahim (Abraham), is highly revered. Hazrat Mohammad Ibrahim was so devoted to Allah that he was ready to sacrifice his own son. It is said that Allah accepted Ibrahim’s devotion and answered his prayers, putting him to the ultimate test. Allah asked Ibrahim to sacrifice his most precious and beloved possession. To demonstrate his true faith and love for Allah, Ibrahim intended to sacrifice his dear son Ismail (Ishmael). However, by Allah’s miracle, a ram was sacrificed in place of Ismail. Since then, Eid-Al-Adha is celebrated with the tradition of sacrifice.

Rules Of Celebrating Bakrid

On the day of Eid-Al-Adha, sacrifices are offered, and the meat is divided into three parts. The first part is given to relatives, friends, and neighbors. The second part is meant for the poor and needy, and the third part is for the family. This way, every year this festival of sacrifice is celebrated.
